Tucked away behind the former Feathers pub in North Walsham, two 18th-century stables required restoration and care. As they were located within the curtilage of the Grade II listed pub, the outbuildings were also listed by association, necessitating a thoughtful approach to their conversion into new homes. Although the structures had fallen into disrepair, they still retained some distinctive architectural features, which were preserved in the new design. The buildings' unique floor plan and existing structure presented challenges during the conversion process. However, by collaborating with the conservation officer and structural engineer, the barns were successfully adapted to create two two-bedroom dwellings with open-plan living spaces on the ground floor.
